About Kristin

Hi, I’m Kristin Rispoli, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for the Brighton Area Schools Board of Education in the upcoming November 2026 election.

For the past 13 years, Brighton has been our family's home. As a proud Brighton Area Schools parent and a professional dedicated to education and child development, I believe our schools are the heart of our community. I am running to bring a unique, balanced perspective to the board—combining the lens of a local parent, a licensed psychologist, and a higher education administrator.

Why I'm Running

The Parent Perspective

My husband and I are raising two wonderful sons who attend Brighton schools. From cheering on the sidelines of local youth sports and photographing baseball games to coaching Lego robotics and supporting the arts, our family is deeply rooted in the daily life of this district. I understand first-hand the joys, challenges, and opportunities our families experience every day.

The Professional Advantage

My professional life is entirely dedicated to supporting students, educators, and schools:

  • Academic Leadership: I teach, conduct research, and administer graduate-level School Psychology programming at Michigan State University.

  • Student Well-Being: As a licensed psychologist, my expertise lies in child development, neurodevelopmental conditions (Autism, ADHD), and whole-child functioning (academics + mental health) —critical areas for shaping successful school policies.

  • Collaborative Leadership: I have spent my career collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to create learning environments where every student can thrive, and researching how we can continue to do this better in and outside of schools.

Creating a Shared Vision for Brighton Area Schools

I am excited to bring my professional background and deep commitment as a BAS parent to the School Board. Together, we can work to:

  • Foster Academic Excellence by supporting rigorous, evidence-based instruction and curriculum.

  • Prioritize Student Well-Being & Safety to ensure every child has a supportive, safe space to learn.

  • Strengthen Community Partnerships by ensuring parent voices are heard and respected.

I look forward to connecting with you over the coming weeks to discuss how we can partner together for the success of our kids, our educators, and our community. Please reach out to me via the form below, email at rispoli4bas@gmail.com, or Facebook/Instagram @rispoli4bas.
